DescriptionContract position for a Product Development Engineer responsible for new product development for medical devices from concept to production.
Responsible for design and development of new products, product improvements and value engineering to existing product lines.
Support FDA submission requirements.
Develop and implement testing procedures.
Support and develop quality systems as they relate to R&D.
Conduct product remediation exercises, root cause and engineering analyses, and works with manufacturing on design for manufacturability.
Ensure work output is compliant with all current regulatory and quality standards.
Design and development of working prototypes through manufacturing equivalent final products.
Internal and external communications with 3rd party vendors.
Performance analyses of prototypes and final products.
FDA documentation and testing requirements,Prepare comprehensive project plans with technical objectives (timing, resource requirements, costs, etc.
).
Comply with Design Control and Stage Gate processes while designing prototypes and products.
Assist manufacturing engineers in developing innovative manufacturing and processing techniques.
Develop low cost bench top tests to quickly and cost effectively evaluate product opportunities.
RequirementsBS Engineering or Life SciencesMinimum 3 years of product development in the medical device field.
Orthopedic medical device development preferred.
Ability to apply analytical skills, in solving engineering problems and developing new products, techniques or designs.
Experience with CAD systems such as Pro/ENGINEER, Solidworks, UG, etc.
Experience working with surgeons on product design a strong plus.
